"Who are you?" asked the little prince.

"I am a fox," the fox said.

Before you would guess it is the part about the taming, you are wrong. It is about when the fox realizes that the Little Prince is not from Earth:

"On another planet?"

"Are there hunters on that planet?"

"Ah, that is interesting! Are there chickens?"

"Nothing is perfect," sighed the fox.

The wish for perfection is part of our human nature, but we often must realize, that – unfortunately – nothing is perfect. This frustrates us. There are even situations, when we have to understand, that choosing between right or wrong is the easier part of life. The real challenge is to choose between bad and worst: the decision which finger to bite.

One of the critics I have heard the most about the corporate IT is that it never delivers on time and money:

“Those corporate IT guys always aim for delivering at 120% but they always miss the budget, by asking for project deadline extension and for extra funding. “

"But now you are going to cry!" said the little prince.

"Yes, that is so," said the fox.

McKinsey’s research conducted in collaboration with the University of Oxford back in 2012, that half of all large IT projects massively blow their budgets. On average, large IT projects run 45 percent over budget and 7 percent over time, while delivering 56 percent less value than predicted. Unfortunately, this does not seem to be changed in the last decade.

The Standish Group's 2020 CHAOS report even estimates that around 66% of software projects fail, and BCG estimates that 70% of digital transformation efforts fall short of meeting targets.

Therefore, the Corporate IT (or any service provider) needs to elaborate first, what is the most important for their customer from the cost-quality-time triangle.

"Men have forgotten this truth," said the fox. "But you must not forget it.”

Nothing is completely perfect on this word. The only way to get close to it, is achieving the perception of perfection, by delivering services the best possible way in terms of customer’s needs and priorities. This is what we have built into our Business Consultancy Program.
